Sandamu/Dutsi Communal Clash: Committee Visits Waring Communities

A Fact Finding Committee set up by Katsina State Government has visited Communities of Rijiyar Tsamiya and Minawa of Sandamu and Dutsi local government areas over the recent communal clash that emanated between the two communities.

It could be recalled that just of recent, farmer/herder communal clash occurred between two respective neighbouring communities of Rijiyar Tsamiya in Sandamu and Minawa of Dutsi LGAs.

Sequel to the incident,  the state government established a Committee  enshrined to investigate and submit report within two weeks period.

Chairman of the committee Hon. Lawal Rufa'i Safana who is also the Special Adviser Department of Local Government Inspectorate on Wednesday 27/8/25 led other members to visit the two communities on a fact finding mission. 

In an interview, the Chairman of the Committee Hon. Lawal Rufa'i Safana explained that the Committee visited the two neighbouring communities to find out the causes of the clash which was an issue between both farming and grazing communities..

Hon. Safana described such issue as simple which according to him has always been normal for them to live  peacefully and coexist.

He explained that it was misunderstanding and the genesis of the clash was well understood by the Committee.

"The Committee will report to the government and give suggestions and recommendations through which we hope this problem will not occur again." He added.

The Committee which was given two weeks period isee expected to Submit its report next week.

Other members of the Committee include Local Council Chairmen of Sandamu and Dutsi LGAs, Permanent Secretary Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, representative from the Office of the Secretary to The Government of the State and representative from the State Ministry of Agriculture.
